Our research projects cover a vast array of topics and involve collaborations between NCAR scientists and researchers in the academic, public, and private sectors. My particular group is responsible for the computing and web environment in the Earth Observing Laboratory (EOL). In our organization, one of the most important and valuable assets we need to track is our computer equipment. Travel is a frequent occurrence among our staff and many times computer equipment makes the journey alongside our employees.

It’s of utmost importance that we have very detailed packing lists when we travel, and that’s where Asset Panda has been most beneficial for us. Time is a critical factor for NCAR employees, and with Asset Panda, we can quickly create individualized packing lists for each trip with the necessary information on each piece of equipment that will be taken. Being able to access our asset data whether using the mobile version on the road or online version at the office gives all members of our team access to the information on each individual asset they need at any time.

There are many aspects of Asset Panda that have improved our tracking processes. The customization of the software has been especially useful. We have been able to tailor the software to our exact needs and how we need it to work for us. From a cost savings standpoint, we are creating our packing lists in a much more timely manner and that’s impacting the bottom line in better and more accurate asset listings so that we know where our equipment is at all times.

Also of notable mention is the customer service and support we have received. Whenever we’ve reached out, Asset Panda’s team has been willing and ready to lend a hand. We like to be actively involved with any modifications needed to customize the software should we have to do certain actions again in the future or have to modify more. Having that strong user support and “can do” customer service attitude ensures they will be there for us as our needs grow and change.
